Starbucks is widely known for its great coffee varieties and the fact that it redefined the taste and drinking of coffee. Due to their innovative and creative ways, they not only have regular coffee that you could make at home but also Frappuccino which is highly appreciated by many, Americanos, Lattes, Espressos and Cappuccinos.

The types of Frappuccino in Starbucks are Mocha Frappuccino and Java Chip Frappuccino. All these kinds of coffee have changed the art of coffee making and brewing, which has in return made Starbucks a popular place for coffee outside homes.

History of Starbucks 

Starbucks opened its first store in 1971. Jerry Baldwin was the founder of this entity alongside Gordon Bowker, and Zev Siegl, who were his co-founders. All the three individuals had the same drive and passion of coffee and tea.
They borrowed money to open the first store in Seattle and came up with the name “Starbucks”. This name originated from a classic novel known as “Moby Dick”.

The three co-founders of Starbucks then partnered with a Dutch immigrant, Alfred Peet, who imported quality coffee beans to the United States. This even fuelled the Starbucks founders more. Jerry Baldwin and Gordon Bowker later decided to purchase a roaster and tried different flavors and blends of coffee.

By the 80’s Starbucks had up to 4 stores in Seattle. In 1980, Zev Siegl decided to leave and major in other fields as the two remaining founders decided to push on with Starbucks, which was competing well as a fresh selling coffee shop.

The history does not end there as there is another catch to it. Howard Schultz, who was made the marketing manager of the Starbucks entity in 1982 helped fuel the success. He convinced the two remaining founders on how the store can switch to a café and not only base in making and selling coffee equipment. This idea of Schultz was brightened when he went to Italy for a business trip where he saw cafés thrive. Espressos and cappuccinos were selling well and he opted for this in Starbucks.
Baldwin and Bocker were however reluctant to this idea prompting Schultz to leave and start his own coffee chain. Starbucks under Baldwin and Bocker did not last long as in 1987 they decided to sell the store.

Schultz decided to buy this store and incorporated everything he wished for a coffee entity to have. By 1996, Starbucks was opening stores outside North America and this made it the biggest coffee house in the world. In the early 2000’s, more than 30,000 Starbucks stores were available around the globe. In 2003, they introduced food in the stores and this fuelled even more sales.
In 2016, Schultz resigned as the CEO and was replaced by Kevin Johnson.

Job positions at Starbucks

There are various kinds of jobs in Starbucks, just like any other coffee shop or entity. Though working at Starbucks can offer great benefits unlike other stores too. Baristas

Baristas are responsible for the crafting and making of the delicious coffee in Starbucks. They are like the epitome of the coffee shop as whatever they make will be judged by customers and determine whether the customers will keep coming in or not.
The making and crafting of coffee from coffee beans is what makes Starbucks thrive. They are regarded the face of the company.

Cashier

Cashiers serve out orders and ring out purchases. A point of sale machine is used here and training for the same can be given which can only last a day or two. They are also responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the store.

Shift supervisor

In this job position, you get to run shifts and ensure that they well taken by every team member while you also take important decision making for the team. While serving as a shift supervisor, you could easily learn great leadership skills which could help you get promoted to a senior position like the store manager.

Shift manager

With the help of a store manager, the shift managers bring in plans for the whole store and ensure team work for greater output and that every client is satisfied.

Assistant store manager

As the name suggests, this role involves helping the store manager to run the whole store through, leading the team, developing talents of team members, running the store operations and driving results.
This position also enhances and sharpens great leadership and managerial skills to help one run a business on their own.

Store manager

Store managers literally manage the whole store like it was theirs. From daily operations to financial outcomes, the store manager is responsible for the whole store and reports to the district manager. This role also entails hiring new staff for the store and even welcoming the same newbies.

District manager

This is a great leadership position that entails managing stores in a whole region, in this case district. Overseeing all stores in the region, ensuring the company’s vision is seen and customer connections are part of the tasks that come with this role.
